Bunnahabhain Distillery is located on the Scottish island of Islay.
In 1883, a distillery was built on the banks of the River Margadale and Bunnahabhain was born.
Bunnahabhain is Gaelic for "mouth of the river".
The only one on Islay that uses pure spring water.
In 1979, the classic 12-year-old single malt was acclaimed worldwide, and in 2006, 18-year-old and 25-year-old variations were released.
In 2010, in order to better preserve the flavor of the raw sake, the chilling filtration process was discontinued and the sake was made unfiltered and uncolored.
Islay whisky is known for its strong peaty aroma and smoky flavour.
However, unlike these typical Islay whiskies, Bunnahabhain is characterized by a less smoky, fresher flavour and a gentler mouthfeel.
