The Arran Distillery is located on the Isle of Arran in Scotland.
The Isle of Arran is located in a calm inland sea between the Kintyre Peninsula in southwest Scotland and the mainland. Blessed with water and a climate ideal for making whiskey, it was once famous as a producer of excellent whiskey.
At its peak, there were over 50 distilleries, but this gradually declined and by 1836 all of the distilleries had closed.
However, in 1995, the new Arran Distillery was opened, and whisky production was revived for the first time in about 160 years.
In 1997, the visitor centre was officially opened in a ceremony unveiled by Her Majesty the Queen.
This was Queen Elizabeth's second official visit to a whisky distillery, and her first in 17 years since visiting Bowmore in 1980.
In 2007, James McTaggart was appointed as the new head distiller after 30 years as head distiller at Bowmore on Islay.
The Aran 10 Year Old is characterized by its softness and smoothness, which is hard to believe considering it has been aged for 10 years. It is bottled in its natural state without chill filtration or coloring.
